ART CLASSES for Children & Adults

SPRING 2008

Raku Pottery Workshop:
May 30-31
Cost: $75, includes one pot and lunch on Saturday

Willie Sapp will be giving a 2-day workshop on the ancient pottery firing technique known as raku. On Friday May 30, 6-9pm, Willie will demonstrate on the potter's wheel, giving students a first-hand look at how the pots they will be glazing and firing are made. On Saturday May 31, 9am-3pm, students will choose a pot made by Willie, learn about raku glazes and participate in the firing process.

PRESCHOOL Art Adventure
June 16 - 19, 2008

Cost: $30

Students ages 3 ½ - 5 years explore art concepts and processes through stories, games and art-making. Students explore various media, from painting and drawing to collage and clay. Emphasis is on the process, not the product.

K-2nd GRADE Art Adventure
June 16 - 19, 2008
1:00 - 3:30 am
Cost: $50

Students ages 5-8 years explore art concepts and processes through stories, games and art-making. Students explore various media, from painting and drawing to collage and clay. Each day a different theme is explored through the various art-making processes.

Drawn to the Art Side
June 30 - July 3, 2008, 10am - noon
Grades 2nd-5th
Cost: $40

This class offers children an opportunity to sharpen their drawing skills. There will be many opportunities to strengthen observation skills, so that students will learn how to draw anything they want. While building these observation and drawing skills, students will work with a variety of media, such as charcoal pencil, markers, colored pencils and scratch board.

Paint Yourself Silly
July 21 - 24, 9:30 - noon
Grades 1st - 5th
Cost: $50

For kids who can't get enough paint, this class allows students to explore several kinds of paint (acrylic, tempera, watercolor), and painting methods. Students will also learn about master painters throughout history, as they get inspiration for their own projects.

Clay Creations
Saturday July 5, 10am -3pm
Saturday July 19, 10am - ? (Glaze Day)
Ages 9- adult
Cost: $40

This class is for anyone who has no clay experience or some clay experience. Learn hand-building methods (pinch pot, slab and coil), while making a variety of projects. The options are endless; students are limited only by their imagination. Bring a lunch. Note: July 5th, students make their projects, and July 19th, students glaze their projects. Great opportunity to make projects for the county fair!
